Grottino Wine Story:
a new face for Grottino di Roccanova DOC
August 9, 2025 will mark an important date for the Grottino di Roccanova DOC.
The main producers of this Lucanian wine, in synergy with the municipal administration of Roccanova, have chosen to present themselves to the market with a renewed marketing strategy and a fresh, unified image.
A united front to enhance opportunities and face together the challenges imposed by the wine sector.
The mayor, Rocco Greco, together with the renowned Lucanian oenologist Fabio Mecca, strongly wanted and oversaw the organization of this day, designed to celebrate and seal the alliance among producers. An event realized with passion and in great style.
For the occasion, the event was attended by Andrea Radic, well-known journalist, television host, and narrator of Italian viticulture; Nicola Campanile, creator of the Radici del Sud festival and always a promoter of the wine excellences of Southern Italy; Luigi Chiera, sommelier of wine and EVO oil, digital and social voice of the sector, with special attention to Lucanian productions.
The day began with an organized tour among the wineries of the area: first stop, Torre Rosano, at the gates of Roccanova, then a new stop at Cantine Lagaria and, following that, a visit to Cantine Graziano. The journey continued with a stop at the Vini Cervino company, and concluded at the Cantine De Biase.
Each producer offered tastings of their wines, engaging with those present to share their experience, the history of the company, the alliance built with other producers, and the value of this event itself.
In the afternoon, a Masterclass was held with nine wines for tasting, which was sold out. Participants followed the speakers' presentations with interest and had the opportunity to express their opinions.
The day ended in Piazza del Popolo with the thematic conference “The Value of Grottino di Roccanova”, during which, under the guidance of the mayor, producers and political representatives discussed the topic of enhancing this Lucanian DOC.
