Grottino Wine Story:
A new look at Grottino di Roccanova DOC
August 9th, 2025 will mark an important milestone for the Grottino di Roccanova DOC.
The main producers of this Lucanian wine, in synergy with the municipal administration of Roccanova, have chosen to present themselves to the market with a renewed marketing strategy and a fresh, unified image.
A common front to enhance opportunities and face together the challenges posed by the wine sector.
The mayor, Rocco Greco, together with the renowned Lucanian oenologist Fabio Mecca, strongly supported and curated the organization of this day, designed to celebrate and formalize the alliance among producers. An event carried out with passion and in great style.
For the occasion, the event was joined by Andrea Radic, well-known journalist, television host, and storyteller of Italian wine culture; Nicola Campanile, creator of the Radici del Sud festival and long-standing promoter of Southern Italy’s wine excellence; and Luigi Chiera, sommelier of both wine and EVO oil, digital and social voice of the sector, with special attention to Lucanian productions.
The day began with an organized tour through the area’s wineries: first stop at Torre Rosano, on the outskirts of Roccanova, followed by Cantine Lagaria, then a visit to Cantine Graziano. The route continued with a stop at Vini Cervino, and finally concluded at Cantine De Biase.
Each producer offered tastings of their wines, engaging with guests to share their experience, the history of their winery, the alliance built with fellow producers, and the very value of this initiative.
In the afternoon, a Masterclass was held with nine wines for tasting, which sold out completely. Participants listened with interest to the speakers’ contributions and had the opportunity to express their own views.
The day concluded in Piazza del Popolo with the thematic conference “The Value of Grottino di Roccanova”, during which, under the guidance of the mayor, producers and political representatives discussed the promotion and development of this Lucanian DOC.
