Cirò: Calabria's first DOCG

From August 7th to 10th, 2025, the traditional “Cirò Wine Festival” takes place, an enological event dedicated to Cirò wine, which this year celebrates the achievement of DOCG status for Cirò Classico.

This marks the end of a long-awaited journey, fulfilling the dream of many Calabrian producers who, after years of commitment and dedication, can finally celebrate the attainment of this prestigious milestone.

Considering that this is the first DOCG in Calabria, it represents a double source of pride for a region so rich in history and tradition within the Italian wine scene.

The celebrations will feature events, meetings, and tastings that, each in their own way, showcase the pride of a land that has contributed significantly to the enological history of our continent for centuries.

The event “Aspettando la Wine Night” (“Waiting for the Wine Night”) will offer tastings of wines from the Consorzio Cirò e Melissa DOC wineries according to the following schedule and venues:

  • August 7th – Borgo Saverona

  • August 8th – Senatore Vini

  • August 9th – Baroni Capoano (featuring the talk “New Challenges for Cirò”)

On August 10th, the festival will conclude in style with the “Music & Wine Night” at Madonna di Mare, Cirò Marina.
